Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

is like a 10 minute bike away.  HRNGGNKWHNGKSF.  THE CAMPUS.  THE STUDENT WORK.  WHY ARE YOU ALL SO BEAUTIFUL.

/btw I went to the national portfolio day.  har har
Two of the tables I went to were just speechless.  One of them being Washu.  The other 4 schools I've seen this week loved my work as well.  I'm totally bragging btw.  I am super excite about college.

And yeah, most of Ringling's scholarship is based on portfolio (not so much grades). though I actually like Savannah the town a lot XD;
If they give me no scholarships at all, I'll be very heart broken

She applied to Ringling too along with SCAD before coming here. I wouldn't know because I've never been to the place, but she left her visit with the impression that it was overrated.

but eeeee. thanks? I'm always setting myself up with the idea that I have to compete with "professionals/adults" to be that much further ahead. Most of the time I don't even think about others my in my age group, how advanced they are and all. Because I'm so caught up in "I WANT TO BE /THIS/ PRO"
My perception of my own skill is kind of skewed in that regard. I just hope my efforts show through to these college boards x.x

I hear its impossible to get a job at in game art development unless you're disgustingly pro and/or have really good computer knowledges.
